Finally here, safely in our hostel room. Which, by the way, is a really compact one. There's a bed. Next to the bed is a bedside table. On the table there is no bedside lamp, but a kettle and two tea cups, of course! Next to the table is a sink. Next to the sink is the door to the hallway. That's it! We really don't mind if our accommodation isn't a five star luxury suite or so, who the hell comes to a foreign country to waste their valuable time sitting in a hotel room anyway.

The weather seems to be great. It's the middle of the night and it's still over +20 C, which also results to the fact, that it's pretty damn hot and moist in our non-air-conditioned tiny room, which results to the fact that we need to keep the window open, which results to the fact that I'm just about to put my earplugs on to silence the constant traffic noise coming from the street below.

We're both really tired, so no more stories today. Good night...

...aaaaaand good morning! I just woke up and am soon going for breakfast, as soon as I get Laura out of the bed. Or actually I'm in still in bed too, since that is pretty much the only place you can be in, if you want to stay our inside our room :-)

Just a quick word about our schedule and plans for the next month. We're spending this weekend here in London, coming back home on Sunday the 27th. The main purpose of this trip is to see Pear Jam, who are headlining the Friday in Hard Rock Calling festival held in Hyde Park. This is a dream come true for me, Pearl Jam definitely being in the top of my bands-to-see-before-I-die -list! (King Crimson's 1972-1974 lineup being in the top of the list too, but seeing them is unfortunately quite impossible nowadays, bummer) Headliners for Saturday and Sunday are Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney, but we'll be spending Saturday shuttling through the city and on Sunday afternoon we're already heading back to Helsinki, so Hard Rock is calling us only tonight.

Then, after spending a week or so back home, we're embarking on a longer journey. First stop is Tokyo, Japan!! After four days there, we're heading further and going to Hawaii, USA, where we are going to spend some two weeks on four different islands, before returning back home via a two night stop in Tokyo again.

The initial idea for this trip came from Lost, the TV-series, which was almost wholly shot in Oahu, Hawaii. Oahu is one of the islands we're about to visit, and we aim to roll throughout the island checking out different locations, where they have shot Lost at. And since Hawaii is pretty much as far as a place can be from Finland's viewpoint, it didn't matter if we fly there through the States or Asia, so that's how Tokyo got added to the itinerary.

But now it's time for breakfast downstairs, followed by a day of sightseeing and shopping, etc, before heading to Hyde Park. I think I'll let Laura blabber more about our day a little later on. One part of the plan for sure is having a pint of some local beer in some authentic English pub, it's my first time in London and UK, so I definitely need to give it a try.

Cheers!

Extraordinarily large space for our feet this time. EasyJet!

Our comfy room.

A beautiful wardrobe.

We brought our own towels, but with this tempting ad we might need to buy new ones! :-D

  1. Sounds like an awesome start! I recommend instead of lager, a bitter or ale called Cafferys. Very smooth and satisfying!
